Erasmus+ funding: how much money is provided and what does it cover?
Funding for Key Action 1 (KA1) of the Erasmus+ programme does not consist of a fixed amount per participant, but rather a funding system based on cost categories and unit costs, defined in the Programme Guide and managed by the National Agencies.
The grant is awarded to the applicant organisation, not directly to individual participants.
The amount awarded by the National Agencies depends on the type of mobility activity, the duration of the mobility, the destination country, the profile of the participants and any specific needs.
The total amount of the project will be calculated based on several budget categories, including:
- Individual support (maintenance). Amount that helps cover accommodation and living expenses during the stay abroad. The amount depends on the destination country and the duration of the mobility.
- Travel. Covers travel from the point of origin to the destination. The amount is calculated based on the distance between both countries, using the European Commission’s official distance calculator.
- Organisational support. Item intended to cover expenses arising from project management, applicant preparation, monitoring and evaluation, and coordination with host entities.
- Course fees (Training4All product). The grant covers tuition fees, considering a maximum daily limit and a maximum total per participant set out in the guide.
- Language support. In certain cases, this may include financial support for the linguistic preparation of participants.
- Inclusion (if necessary). Funding may be increased in the case of participants with fewer opportunities, functional diversity, or duly justified expenses of a different nature.
